On the frame

This quilt top has been finished for a while, waiting on me to decide how to quilt it. Finally, I decided to do an allover pattern on it.

I think the Stars and Swirls add to the patriotic feel of this quilt.

A finish............

Several months ago, I started experimenting with the disappearing pinwheel blocks. I used all sizes and turned them in multiple directions. My only "rule" was that they be blue and yellow.

This was also and experiment in quilting motifs. My goal was to practice a lot of different motifs - not just fillers.

The small pinwheels on this block are only about an inch!

I REALLY like the way these look when set on point. I can't believe how different they look! I will probably make a whole quilt this way.

I will get a photo of the whole quilt loaded soon.

Disappearing Hourglass Quilts

I thought I would share a couple more variations on the disappearing hourglass quilt.....

From PaperPrincess
I never cease to be amazed how fabric cut and sewn the same way, can look so very different, with just the turn of a few squares.

Another endless amazement, the creativity of other quilter's!!!

From http://ruthiequilts.files.wordpress.com/
I really like the way that this one is quilted and will like take my inspiration from it, for my diappearing hour glass quilt.

Disappearing Hourglass Quilt

......so how have you been?  I am afraid to look and see how long it has been since my last post, so I will just not look and stay in denial about. Life has just been happening, no big huge reason for not being around.  I have gotten some quilting into my schedule and here is some proof......

I have been in the dark in more ways than one, in that somehow I missed the whole disappearing hourglass movement. Having done some disappearing pinwheel blocks, I had to try this one! I put the squares together in a couple of hours. They are 17 inches finished.  I wanted them large because I wanted to see the fat quarters in the finished product. It was a fantastic use of a fat quarter bundle.

After finishing the squares and adding a 4.5 inch border, I felt like it needed more.....so I added two inch border of squares and another 2 inch plain border.

I really think this flimsy is complete. Now to get her my Millie.

what do you do when you have just a little time?

I make something small!  There is a lot of satisfaction in being able to do something from start to finish in a weekend.

I digitized the stitching and used my embroidery machine for the stitch out.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

I have been wanting to make one of these pin chushions for a while.

I hope you have some time for something creative soon!

Our guild made this gorgeous queen-size quilt which we donated to the our local "friends of the library" to raffle.......our library has had some major budget cuts, and since we get to meet there free of charge, we wanted to do something to help. I have tickets, if you would like a chance to win it, e-mail me.

If you win it - I will ship it to you, if you aren't close enough for me to bring it to you. $1 for one chance $5 for 6 chances.
