Disappearing Hourglass Quilt

......so how have you been?  I am afraid to look and see how long it has been since my last post, so I will just not look and stay in denial about. Life has just been happening, no big huge reason for not being around.  I have gotten some quilting into my schedule and here is some proof......

I have been in the dark in more ways than one, in that somehow I missed the whole disappearing hourglass movement. Having done some disappearing pinwheel blocks, I had to try this one! I put the squares together in a couple of hours. They are 17 inches finished.  I wanted them large because I wanted to see the fat quarters in the finished product. It was a fantastic use of a fat quarter bundle.

After finishing the squares and adding a 4.5 inch border, I felt like it needed more.....so I added two inch border of squares and another 2 inch plain border.

I really think this flimsy is complete. Now to get her my Millie.

what do you do when you have just a little time?

I make something small!  There is a lot of satisfaction in being able to do something from start to finish in a weekend.

I digitized the stitching and used my embroidery machine for the stitch out.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

I have been wanting to make one of these pin chushions for a while.

Quilting detail - gorgeous dresden plate

Our guild made this gorgeous queen-size quilt which we donated to the our local "friends of the library" to raffle.......our library has had some major budget cuts, and since we get to meet there free of charge, we wanted to do something to help. A finish

I finished this yesterday.....

I think I like the back better than the front!  I used some blocks I had left over.

So we had a beautiful snow - more than I have seen at once here.

what do you do with ugly fabric?

So this one started out as an ugly fabric design.  Notice the very dated brown calico was my ugly fabric.  It  was transformed by the addition of just a few colors.  The deep red is what makes the most difference in my opinion. It pulls all of the others together.
